Today's Mission: Shorten Your Learning Curve

May this help you and inspire you

Any good coach, teacher or counselor worth their salt knows they don't know it all and it's mission critical to always be a student first, teacher second. Then, with genuine humility, use what they've learned and communicate it in a way that it offers the opportunity for those they work with to make the kind of changes and progress in their life for which they sought counsel for; it's the art of shortening another's learning curve and time spent floundering.

Long before I became a Health Coach just a few years back, I was lucky to have a number of influential mentors and colleagues who took the time to teach me, support me and inspire a thirst for life-long learning and contribution. That's where it began.

And now, as a Health Coach, I am an avid learner, researcher and synthesizer of what I hope is valuable resources, methods and strategies to improve my client's health and quality of life.

I was reminded of this lesson/mission of mine in a book I'm reading, "White Hot Truth" by Danielle LaPorte. In it she says, "I'm a seeker who writes about what I find. And maybe, on just the right day, I can help you flatten your learning curve. If I've got anything to say it's this: you are the authority on you."

She goes on to say, "NOBODY knows better than you what's right for you, NOBODY. Let me say what I really mean: NOBODY. Advice? Get some...All experts offer you is data for you to take into consideration. YOU are the centrifugal force that must filter, interpret, and give meaning to that data. Your body knows. Your heart knows. Your mind will help you act on what you know."

That last part is so powerful because she's communicating that it's all within you already - your internal compass and guidance system that was specially designed and created just for YOU!

It's what the tagline to my coaching business means, "Unlock Your Healthy Self" - it's there, waiting for you to listen, to draw upon it, to act upon it.

With this bit of inspiration, to support my mission as a Health Coach to help you live a healthier, happier, more meaningful quality of life - I wanted to share with you an inspiring video from Carolyn Myss; a recording of a TedX talk she gave entitled "Choices that can change your life."

Go ahead, listen to that inner voice saying YES, WATCH THE VIDEO! And when you click on this link and see that it's 25 minutes long - do your inner self a favor and STILL WATCH IT! You'll be glad you did.

Have a comment? I’d love to hear from you - leave one below will ya?

Can someone else benefit from reading today’s blog – would you be so kind as to share it with them?

In good health,
